JOB TITLE: School Bus Driver

REQUIREMENTS:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 174 Days - School Year (Summer School Hours Available as well)
START DATE: ASAP

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

• Illinois CDL License with passenger endorsement. Assistance and training is provided for eligible applicants.
• Physical examination with drug and alcohol testing.
• Criminal background check and fingerprinting.
• Complete eight (8) hour course required by State of Illinois.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Report on time and begin route or trip when scheduled.
• Operate a vehicle in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and McHenry Transportation Department procedure.
• Provide safe transportation to and from school for all children.
• Responsible for passenger management and timely reporting of incidents, accidents and student conduct reports.
• Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping.
• Identify transportation hazards and promptly report.
• Comply with established schedules, observes traffic ordinances, and be constantly aware of the safety needs of students.
• Maintains and demonstrates a helpful, positive and pleasant attitude toward fellow co-workers, other school district employees and the general public.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with school personnel, students, parents and the general public.
• Demonstrate proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus.
• Drive all vehicles and routes as determined by the transportation director or designee.

PAY AND BENEFITS

• Starting rate $22.25/hour; minimum 5 hours a day guaranteed. Additional compensation can be provided for prior bus driver experience and valid CDL license.
• Eligible for Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Pension (IMRF Pension).
