Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide support and technical knowledge in the oversight of District Technicians assigned to cluster. Facilitate the effective use of technology at the campus level. Provide technical support to staff and students in the use of hardware and certain software to multiple campuses. View and assign help requests to District Technicians and ensure campus technology equipment is in good working condition.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Certification:

Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology or electronics (preferred)

CompTIA A+ certification (preferred)

Industry certifications as applicable – Windows, Mac OS X and iOS environment (preferred)

Apple device troubleshooting skills (preferred)

Special Knowledge / Skills:

Possess management and leadership skills

Possess the ability to provide leadership for District Technicians assigned to team

Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications - Windows, Mac OS X and iOS

Knowledge of Touch Panels/Projectors/Audio & Video systems

Ability to analyze and resolve computer hardware and software problems

Knowledge with configuration and concepts of wired and wireless networks

Ability to troubleshoot printer problems as related to connectivity issues

Knowledge of deploying and managing computer disk images

Knowledge of Help Desk and Support Ticket systems and processes

Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional settings

Ability to repair computer and other technology equipment used within the District

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision

Ability to install, pull and terminate network cabling.

Experience:

Five years of technical support experience (preferred)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Technical Support

  • Review and provide support for any help requests assigned to District Technicians within cluster.
  • Provide technical assistance to campus staff and students for use of equipment including technology hardware, software, telephones, data/voice networks, and audio/video/media systems, printers, projectors, and interactive media systems.
  • Provide on-site assistance to campus staff and students with technology problems and questions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain campus and assigned technology devices. Arrange for repairs on these devices through approved vendors as needed.
  • Perform upgrades to software and hardware as needed. Work with Desktop Engineers for images, software and hardware upgrades.
  • Assist with the organization and distribution of technology equipment for classroom use.
  • Act as an extension of Technology Services assisting with technology needs/installations throughout the District, as manpower is needed.
  • Assist with minor network cabling troubleshooting/repair as needed.
  • Utilize Help Request Ticketing system for staff and students for technology issues.
  • Follow prioritization guidelines for addressing technology issues with staff and student devices.
  • Assist users with Active Directory account related issues.

Inventory

  • Help maintain accurate inventory of hardware and software.
  • Assist with inventory control processes related to staff and/or student devices.
  • Identify, request, and control the inventory of repair parts.
  • Guide campus staff/administrators on Technology Special Request – any moves, additions, or removal of campus technology.

Other

  • Maintain student fines when warranted, especially as related to student assigned devices.
  • Promote departmental culture of customer service through frequent communication, positive relationships, and prompt support.
  • Demonstrate skills in conflict resolution with administrators, staff, and parents.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local Board policy.
  • Comply with all District and campus routines and regulations.
  • Due to the different technology needs/requirements during the summer, duties will vary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide guidance/support to District Technicians in cluster. Provide input for the performance evaluation of District Technicians in cluster. Act as liaison between District Technicians and campus administration with guidance of Customer Service Manager.
