Substitute Teacher 2026 - 2027 School Year

If you are interested in becoming a Substitute Teaching, please complete an application online. This posting is for the 2026 - 2027 School Year.

After you have successfully completed your online application, please visit or call ONLY one school within Nassau County School District and request a Recommendation Form be completed by the principal. The principal will review your online application, complete the employment verification and submit the necessary paperwork to the Human Resources Department. Please be advised that some principals may require you to complete an interview before they will complete the recommendation form. Time frame for completion is dependent on the recommendation requests and response of your previous employers. All employment within the last ten (10) years, must be verified. If the school is not able to obtain employment verifications, they will contact you to provide 3 reference letters.

Once the recommendation is received in the Human Resources Department, the Human Resouces Department will contact you via email with the next steps to becoming a Substitute Teacher.

You will be required to complete the next steps:

Fingerprinting ($82 - applicant pay), complete online paperwork, attend an in-person onboarding and completed Online Teacher Training Course

Substitute Teachers must be at least 20 years old.

Education credentials required. Official College/Univserity transcripts must be received from the college/university or their third-party vendor. Transcripts can be sent to substitute@nassau.k12.fl.us . When sending transcripts, please only send your highest level conferred degree.

NOTE:

The Substitute Teacher Training Class is mandatory and required by the State of Florida. This requirement can be waived if you hold a valid Florida Teacher Certificate.
