DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION FOR NORTH RIDGEVILLE CITY SCHOOLS

POSITION TITLE:
Director of Transportation Services

RESPONSIBLE TO:
SUPERINTENDENT OR DESIGNEE

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of transportation services to the District. This role involves overseeing the following areas:

• Dispatching of drivers and school buses
• Ensure that all school district buses are staffed with drivers following established routes and prepared time schedules.
• Answer parent/guardian questions and serve as primary Customer Service support for the area of Transportation (includes but not limited to: new student/resident pickup/drop requests, routing questions, resident non-parent questions, and other special requests)
• Oversee student bus disciplinary issues
• Act as a liaison between drivers, parents, building Principals and Central Office as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An Associate's Degree or equivalent vocational training and/or experience relevant to transportation services preferred
• A passing evaluation of a Driving Record Status Report (Abstract)

JOB DUTIES:

• Routing and Scheduling
• Knowledge of transportation routing software
• Approve transportation requests through student and district database systems
• Prepare bus routes for all public and nonpublic schools in the district
• Prepare and update bus schedules for all public and nonpublic schools in the district
• Ability to analyze and adjust routes due to external factors (traffic patterns, construction, etc.)
• Develop and administer a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities, including emergent needs (bus break downs, driver absences, accidents, etc.)

• Ability to understand and translate to action, current laws from local, state, and federal authority
• Complete all required reports and maintain files that relate directly or indirectly to the assigned duties
• Maintain safety standards for state and insurance regulations
• Develop a program of preventative safety
• Complete and dispatch insurance reports.

• Personnel
• Monitor and maintain passing evaluations of Driving Record Status Reports
• Recruit, train, and supervise all transportation personnel, and make recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion and release

• Administrative
• Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and revise, as needed, goals for the Transportation Department
• Prepare transportation payroll
• Devise an efficient system of management to insure that the Transportation services are as fiscally sound as possible
• Submit transportation budget requests; administer the transportation budget
• Submit purchase orders in accordance with budgetary limitations and district rules
• Approve and forward transportation service invoices
• Develop recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on a survey of resident students, distances, and grade levels

Contract days � 247 plus thirteen (13) paid holidays; Starting salary range: $73,900-$108,500
