Position: Head Girls Wrestling Coach
Supervised By: Athletic Director
Objective/Purpose: O'Fallon Township High School District #203 is seeking a dependable and skilled Wrestling Coach that will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the wrestling program in a manner that promotes student-athlete development, competitive excellence, sportsmanship, academic success, and positive character development. The coach will provide leadership and instruction to student-athletes while maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, and conduct effective wrestling practices, conditioning sessions, and competitions.
- Teach and develop proper wrestling techniques, strategies, conditioning methods, and rules of the sport.
- Establish and maintain high standards for student-athlete behavior, sportsmanship, attendance, effort, and academic responsibility.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, team activities, travel, and other wrestling-related events.
- Develop individualized and team-based training plans appropriate for the age, skill level, and physical abilities of student-athletes.
- Monitor student-athlete safety and follow all district, IHSA, and applicable wrestling safety guidelines and procedures.
- Properly address injuries and follow established district procedures for reporting and responding to injuries.
- Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and other school personnel.
- Maintain accurate records related to team rosters, attendance, eligibility, equipment, injuries, and other required athletic documentation.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes and families regarding schedules, expectations, competitions, team policies, and program information.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding schedules, transportation, facilities, equipment, contests, and other program needs.
- Ensure appropriate use, care, inventory, and storage of wrestling equipment and facilities.
- Promote a positive team culture based on respect, accountability, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Encourage and support student-athletes in maintaining academic eligibility and making appropriate progress toward graduation.
- Attend required coaching meetings, professional development, athletic department meetings, and other district-required activities.
- Follow all district policies, employee handbook provisions, athletic department procedures, IHSA regulations, and applicable laws.
- Maintain professional conduct and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or administration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of wrestling.
- Ability to effectively communicate with high school students.
- Ability to organize and manage practices, competitions, and team activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and administrators.
- Ability to maintain a safe and positive environment for student-athletes.
- Successful completion of all required district, IHSA, and state coaching requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is primarily performed in a wrestling room, gymnasium, athletic facilities, and competition venues.
- Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and physical activity.
- May require evening, weekend, and holiday work based on the athletic schedule.
- May require travel for competitions, tournaments, and team activities.
- Must be able to respond appropriately to emergency situations involving student-athletes.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: $5,772. Coaching positions are not eligible for benefits.
