Substitute Bus Aide

The Pittsgrove Township Board of Education is seeking the following position

• SUBSTITUTE BUS AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Physical examination by a licensed doctor of medicine within 60 days prior to the date of

employment.

3. No misuse or abuse of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To assist in the safe transportation of students to and from school and/or special

activities; and assist the bus driver in monitoring students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists bus driver with individual problems, as they arise, in order to complete the

assigned transportation route/trip.

2. Participates in all in-service training as requested.

3. Assists students with boarding and exiting the vehicle when necessary.

4. Reports damages to the interior of the bus to the mechanic and Transportation Supervisor

immediately.

5. Maintains order when students are on the bus. Reports excessive behavior problems to

the Transportation Supervisor, in conjunction with the bus driver.

6. Works as a team with the school bus driver.

7. Exercises responsible leadership on out-of-district school trips.

8. Reports all accidents and completes required reports.

9. Enforces regulations against smoking, drinking, and eating on the bus.

10. Participates in random drug/alcohol screenings when requested.

11. Participates in drug/alcohol screenings following an accident, when requested.

12. Remains physically fit to perform all duties of the job.

13. Follows guidelines and procedures as directed by the Transportation Supervisor and in

the Transportation Dept. Handbook.

14. Performs other duties as requested by the Transportation Supervisor or a school principal.
