2021-2022 Texas Teacher of the Year

For nearly three decades ESC Region 19 has proudly presented the Teacher of the Year (TOY) program. ESC 19 annually showcases district teachers who have emerged as champions in their profession, and have impacted and inspired students to unforetold heights in all aspects of their lives. Our ESC 19 Teachers of the Year represent not only the best in their districts but are among the most consistently recognized as the best in Texas, having gone on to win eight Texas Teacher of the Year Awards!

2022 ESC Region 19 Teachers of the Year

ESC Region 19 is proud of both 2022 Region 19 Teachers of the Year, Kelsey Anderson and Ramon Benavides.

Kelsey Anderson, is a third-grade teacher at Cactus Trails Elementary in the Socorro Independent School District (SISD) and has been named the Region 19 Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Ramon Benavides, is a teacher at Del Valle High School in the Ysleta Independent School District (YISD) and has been named the 2022 Region 19 Secondary Teacher of the Year and most recently recogized as the 2022 Texas State Teacher of the Year.

TFCU co-sponsors the annual Region 19 Teacher of the Year program. This year, TFCU awarded the top three teachers in elementary and secondary categories with generous cash prizes.

Region 19 Elementary Teacher of the Year Top Winners:

• 1st place: Kelsey Anderson, Socorro ISD
• 2nd place: Lili Carrasco, Clint ISD
• 3rd place: Sabina Lazos, Canutillo ISD

Region 19 Secondary Teacher of the Year Top Winners:

• 1st place: Ramon Benavides, Ysleta ISD
• 2nd place: Donna G. Siañez, Socorro ISD
• 3rd place: Gerrardo Torres, El Paso ISD
