TITLE:: RTR Paraprofessional

(Arizona Responsible Think Room)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate Degree or higher AND obtained a passing score on one of the Arizona Department of Education approved assessments.
• Computer literate
• Bilingual Navajo/English preferred.
• Well versed in Navajo Tradition and culture.
• Excellent communication/collaboration skills.
• Experience working with at-risk students is preferred.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Substitute Teacher Certification.
• Possess or ability to secure an IVP fingerprint card.
• Valid Driver's License.

TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT:: Principal and Assistant Principal

Ten (10) Months a year

SALARY:

Salary to be determined by district placement schedule for classified staff scale.

POSITION GOAL:: To assist the school in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and a supervised environment in order that students may learn effectively.

1. Participates in teacher education programs offered by the district.

• Conducts learning experiences with small groups of students as needed.
• Assists with substituting duties as needed in emergency situations.
• Supervises students during regular school day as assigned.
• Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary.
• Helps maintain individual records for each child-such as grades and progress toward identified goals.
• Guides Students in the classroom in working towards graduation requirements.
• May assist in translating information in Navajo when appropriate.
• Provide weekly spreadsheets and updates to Academic Counselors on student progress, as directed.
• Cultivate a climate of learning and acceptance.
• Performs additional duties as may from time to time be assigned by supervisor.
