Bus Driver

Position Title: Bus Driver
Work Hours: 4 hours per day
Pay Range: Starting pay 21.73/per hour
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor or designee

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL with a minimum of a Class B license and school bus and passenger endorsements, or any other licensure required by state or federal law.
• Ability to successfully pass random drug and alcohol screening tests.
• Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Board and permitted by law. Such qualifications shall not be arbitrary or capricious.
• Class B CDL training is provided.

Essential Responsibilities

• Report to work as scheduled and complete a pre-trip inspection, including checking lights, safety equipment, and completing the required 15-minute warm-up period.
• Complete a post-trip inspection and ensure that all students and other occupants have safely exited the bus.
• Report any moving violation or accident involving a personal vehicle while off duty to the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
• Immediately report any accident or moving violation occurring while on duty to the Transportation Supervisor or local police, as appropriate. Remain on the bus with students until directed otherwise by law enforcement and complete all required accident reports.
• Follow all mandatory school bus safety regulations and immediately report accidents, injuries, or safety concerns to the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
• Maintain the interior of the assigned bus in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform exterior cleaning of the bus, as needed or assigned.
• Report vandalism, mechanical problems, equipment concerns, or other issues to the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
• Recognize potential hazards and take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of students, fellow employees, and the public.
• Report student discipline concerns to the building principal or designee.
• Pick up and drop off students at designated stops and times according to the schedule established by the Transportation Supervisor. Transport only authorized students.
• Enforce applicable state, local, and school district policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or designee.
