Behavior Support Classroom (BSC) Assistant

Job Summary: Provide assistance to the special education teacher to meet the needs of students in a special
education setting. Support the implementation of the Individual Education Program for students
with disabilities throughout the school environment, including general education and special
education settings. Provide instructional, social-emotional and behavioral supports needed for
student progress toward Individual Education Program goals under the direction of a special
education teacher.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Meet the Highly Qualified Requirements for Paraprofessionals as required by the Every Student
Succeeds Act (48 college hours or more verified by official transcripts or passing score of 70 or
above on formal academic assessment)
Ability to obtain a valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work with children with special needs and abilities
Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions

Experience:
Some experience working with children
