About this role

Job Summary:
The Librarian provides accessible tools for students and staff that direct, enhance and support the learning process. Housed in the school library, the Librarian creates an environment where collaboration, innovation, and creative problem solving thrive. The Librarian is knowledgeable about curricular areas and serves the interdisciplinary needs of the school. The Librarian works in a flexible environment, collaborating with staff, teaching skills to students and staff, maintaining the holdings of the library, and managing the Maker Space.

Organizational Relationship:
The Librarian reports directly to the Building Administration.

Qualifications:

  • Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator Licensure, preferred
  • Illinois State Board of Education SUB License, required
  • Solution-focused approach to supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of all children
  • Experience working within an elementary school setting and a diverse (culturally, racially, ethnically, linguistically etc.) student population
  • Fluency in a second language, preferred

Compensation: $349 per day.

Substitute teachers doing daily or long-term assignments do not have a contract of employment for any guaranteed period of time. A long-term substitute teacher may be given an estimated timeline of the assignment; however, the beginning and end dates are subject to change due to District needs and satisfactory performance of the long-term substitute teacher. Daily and long-term substitute teachers are considered "at-will" employees and are not eligible to receive benefits.
