Automotive Mechanic

POSITION TITLE: Automotive Mechanic
REPORTING TO: Transportation Director
HOURS: Full-time, 8.0 hours per day (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mon-Fri), 12 months per year
CURRENT LOCATION: Transportation Department, 2 Winston Place, Albany, NY 12205
START DATE: ASAP
SALARY & BENEFITS: Schedule M per CSEA Contract ($52,834.00 starting salary).

RESPONSIBILITIES: This is skilled work involving responsibility for the complete overhaul and repair of a variety of automotive equipment and related types of machinery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of experience as a skilled automotive repairperson.

• Thorough knowledge of standard automotive repair methods and of the terminology and tools of difficult repairs to heavy automotive and other mechanical equipment which may include diesel equipment;
• Working knowledge of welding techniques;
• Skill in motor function and dexterity;
• Ability to work from plans and specifications and to follow rough draft sketches and oral instructions;
• Hand-eye coordination;
• Manual dexterity.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

Possession of a valid New York State Commercial Driver's License, Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsements or willing to obtain CDL licensing within the first 6 months of employment.
