Student Teacher Resident

Job Title:: Student Teacher Resident
Reports To:: Campus Principal and University Student Teacher Supervisor
Classification:: Opportunity Culture: Professional
Wage/Hour Status:: Exempt
Days:: Based on university student teacher program & SBISD teacher calendar (semester, year � long placement)
Salary:: See Compensation Plan - Supplemental and Temporary Pay

Primary Purpose:: Participate in a semester-long or year-long student teacher resident experience under the guidance of a highly effective mentor teacher observing and learning in an on the job environment.
Qualifications/Skills:: Education/Certification:

• Enrolled in one of the following universities: UH-Main, UH-TeachHouston, UH-Downtown, Stephen F. Austin State University, Rice University, Texas State University, University of Wyoming, Houston Christian University and Texas A&M University and working towards a teaching certification.
• Accepted into the University Student Teacher Resident Program.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Broad knowledge of MS Word and broad knowledge of MS Excel.
• Computer literate. Ability to operate various office equipment (copier/fax machine).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with people effectively.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to lift and transport textbooks/materials to designated areas.

Other:

• Must be a current University student enrolled in one of the universities listed above; working towards teaching certification and in good standing with the university.
• Meet the items identified in their University College of Education Resident Job Description.

• Prolonged use of the computer.
• Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.
• Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
