Job Description: Empire High School is seeking an Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the head coach in developing and mentoring student-athletes. Responsibilities include assisting with practices, game preparation and strategy, teaching fundamental wrestling skills, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting the overall goals and culture of the wrestling program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player performance and team success.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
• Organize and supervise team practices, conditioning programs, and game strategies.
• Promote academic achievement and ensure players adhere to eligibility requirements.
• Represent Empire High School with professionalism in the community and in interscholastic competitions.
• Ensure compliance with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school policies.

Qualifications:

• Required:

• Strong knowledge of the sport’s fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass a background check as required by the school district.

• Preferred:

• Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
• Previous experience as an assistant coach.
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
• Experience with student-athlete development programs.
