About this role

Position Summary:

The Assistant Treasurer serves in a leadership and support role within the Fiscal Office, developing broad experience in school district fiscal operations while supporting the Treasurer and the department as a whole. The position serves as the District’s primary grants coordinator and subject-matter expert for grant fiscal management, while also providing primary support in payroll oversight and employee benefits administration. The position will provide additional support across other Treasurer’s Office functions and fiscal operations as needed, with responsibilities varying throughout the fiscal year based on departmental priorities, reporting requirements, and operational needs. The role is designed to develop leadership capacity through increasing responsibility, cross-functional experience, and direct involvement in the district’s financial operations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in governmental accounting, school finance, grants management, employee benefits administration, payroll, or related fiscal operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Valid Ohio School Treasurer License or the ability and commitment to obtain one.
  • Experience with USAS, USPS, and other Ohio school financial systems preferred.
  • Experience administering federal and state grant programs.
  • Experience with employee benefit administration.

Essential Functions:

1. Grants Fiscal Administration and Compliance

  • Coordinate the fiscal administration of all federal, state, and competitive grant programs.
  • Develop and monitor grant budgets in collaboration with district administrators and program coordinators. This role will require strong collaboration with student services.
  • Prepare and submit CCIP budgets, budget revisions, reimbursement requests, drawdowns, amendments, and grant closeout documentation
  • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant requirements, Uniform Guidance, and applicable federal and state regulations.

2. Payroll and Employee Benefits Administration

  • Provide support for District payroll, including payroll processing, reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Provide support for the employee benefit programs, including insurance, open enrollment, eligibility, benefit deductions, and employee communications.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, payroll staff, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate employee compensation, benefit administration, and compliance with applicable laws and negotiated agreements.
  • Review payroll and benefit-related reports as needed.

3. Treasurer’s Office Operations

  • Assist with day-to-day financial operations of the district, including financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, audits, and other fiscal responsibilities.
  • Assist with the financial administration of construction and capital improvement projects.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial reports, audit documentation, regulatory filings, and other reports required by state and federal agencies.
  • Collaborate in developing and improving office procedures, workflows, financial systems, and internal controls while supporting staff training and operational efficiency.

Working Conditions:

  • 12 month/8 hours a day with hours to be determined by the supervisor.
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings and special events.
