Substitute School Nurse

Job Description

In this role, you will provide critical healthcare support to students in the absence of the regular school nurse. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day medical needs, addressing emergencies, and maintaining records in compliance with state regulations. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical skills and the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families to foster a safe and healthy school environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid New Jersey School Nurse Certification
• Current New Jersey Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license
• Knowledge of New Jersey statutes, regulations, and administrative code governing school health services
• Comprehensive knowledge of school health practices, student health needs, and related medical issues
• Knowledge of appropriate procedures for responding to student illness, injury, emergencies, and medication-related needs
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with technology and electronic health record/documentation systems
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive student health information
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, administrators, and other school personnel
• Prior school nursing experience preferred
• Experience working with elementary to high school students preferred
