The deadline to apply for the next exam is October 7, 2026. The exam will be given on October 21, 2026.

*Applicants must meet the following requirements to be approved to take the exam:

Residency – Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s)for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the written test:

Livingston County or one of the following Counties: Allegany, Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben or Wyoming.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides specialized clerical support to the Special Education Department, the Director of Pupil Personnel and Special Services and the CSE/CPSE Chairperson.
  • Develop and maintain the annual CSE and CPSE meeting calendar.
  • Generate and distribute meeting invitations and notifications.
  • Process new CSE and CPSE referrals.
  • Medicaid and preschool billing.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential special education records, documents,
  • official correspondence and other material, both paper and electronic, pertinent to activities of the office.
  • Maintain inventory and requisition of office supplies
  • Receive and refer phone calls, answer questions, direct persons to proper officials, make appointments and act as a receptionist
  • Receive, sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail
  • Help with the design of spreadsheets, forms, documents, schedules, directories, etc.
  • May participate in meetings or documentation regarding IEP, 504 plans, superintendent’s hearings, student disciplinary actions, etc.
  • May be responsible for database entries and maintenance
