Cooperatively with campus personnel, ensure programming for students is in compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements.. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master’s degree Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments Administrator Certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of specially designed instruction necessary to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities Knowledge of the general curriculum Knowledge of the availability of resources of the LEA Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to prepare appropriate individual education program (IEPs) Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special education Knowledge of various special education eligibility conditions and the challenges to learning Experience: Three years teaching experience Experience as Educational Diagnostician or related field preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Serve as the representative of the local education agency at IEP/ARD meetings for assigned campus or campuses. 2. Schedule ARD/IEP meetings and notify parents and appropriate school personnel in compliance with federal/state/district guidelines. 3. Assure all required special education documents are completed and maintained in compliance with federal/state/district policy. 4. Consult with school staff about implementation of IEPs, appropriate accommodations, modifications, and strategies for learning. 5. Assist the building administration to ensure that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with federal, state, and local policy. 6. Collaborate with administrators, specialists, and case managers to meet compliance timelines for evaluations and ARD/IEP committee meetings. 7. Present staff development training to assigned campuses regarding federal, state and local policy as it relates to students with disabilities. 8. Comply with Federal and State policies, rules, and regularions in addition to local board policy. 9. Follow all district and local campus routines and regulations. 10. Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Frequent walking Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, assist non-ambulatory students, and lift and move adaptive equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure
