Qualifications: Education/Certification: None specified Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning and safety procedures Ability to operate and or lift equipment Ability to properly store and use cleaning supplies Ability to work independently Experience: None required but preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Cleaning 1.Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms. 2.Keep school buildings and grounds, including sidewalks and play areas clean. 3.Comply with procedures for storage and disposal of trash. 4.Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed. 5.Clean cafeteria during and after breakfast and lunch periods 6.Monitor restrooms during the day shift 7.Assist with the lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs. 8.Report major repair needs to principal. 9.Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed by the principal or supervisor. 10.Assist in setting up facilities for special events. Safety 11.Assist with opening each school day. 12.Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities. 13.Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open. 14.Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. 15.Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. 16.Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, and other custodial equipment. Light truck or van. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; may work in tiring and uncomfortable positions Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding; regular grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15–44 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over) Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, noise, and vibration; exposure to chemical and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress
