Assess the educational, learning styles, behavioral, and programs needs of student referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to provide the most appropriate programs for student with disabilities Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree Licensed Specialist in School Psychology Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, behavioral needs, and learning theories Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties: Evaluation Skills and Procedures 1. Conducts evaluations according to the normative guidelines of the test developer and writes reports according to federal and state statutes and federal and T.E.A. regulations. 2. Completes evaluation reports within timelines. 3. Integrates relevant information from school, family, and other professionals into the evaluation report. 4. Interprets information from all sources, develops diagnostic impressions, and makes recommendations. 5. Implements all transfer ARD procedures within timelines (review transfer ARD paperwork to determine need for evaluation; schedule 30-day ARD within timeline). Management Skills 6. Coordinates with campus administration, clerical staff and/or lead teachers, and parents to address student needs. 7. Submits required paperwork to the ARD committee within required timelines. For example, counseling goals and objectives and recommended behavior strategies are developed and submitted in a timely manner. 8. Updates goals and objectives each six weeks; generates progress reports. 9. Implements ARDed decisions relevant to job responsibilities in a timely manner. 10. Monitors accuracy of PEIMS data. 11. Maintains relevant portions of eligibility folders. 12. Maintains log to document provision of direct/consultative services. 13. Maintains confidentiality. Collaboration Skills 14. Assists classroom teachers/administrators with IEP/BIP development and implementation. 15. Displays professionalism when dealing with students, parents, and staff. 16. Collaborates with other professionals in matters relevant to student needs. 17. Performs other duties as assigned. Professional Effectiveness 18. Acquires new skills and knowledge consistent with the standards of the profession. 19. Supports the school district’s philosophy and objectives. 20. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of district programs, administrators, staff, and parents. 21. Maintains current knowledge of special education law, evaluation instruments, and eligibility criteria. 22. Maintain licensure/certification consistent with the standards of the profession; maintain copy of current license/certificate with WISD Department of Special Education. Personal Effectiveness 23.
