Cambridge City Schools is seeking dedicated family and community members to serve as Washington DC Trip Volunteers in support of students, staff, and this school sponsored program. Volunteers play an important role in enhancing educational experiences and strengthening school-community partnerships.

Washington DC Trip Advisors, Building Principal, or Designee

Position Summary

Washington DC Trip Volunteers assist the program advisors, Middle School staff, and students in a variety of extracurricular and general support activities. Volunteer assignments may include assistance for specific activities and events, chaperoning for the DC trip, assisting with trip programing, event admissions, and other activities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Washington DC Trip Advisor or Building Principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists Washington DC Trip Advisor with program activities
• Supports student learning and engagement with supervision
• Helps with Washington DC Trip events, programs, activities
• Serves as a mentor and provide support to students on the Washington DC Trip
• Promotes a safe, respectful, and positive environment
• Maintains confidentiality regarding students and district information
• Follows all district policies, procedures, and volunteer guidelines
• Completes required background checks and training prior to service

Qualifications

• Interest in supporting Cambridge City School District and students
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, staff, parents, and other community members
• Possess the following traits - dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
• Displays strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Must successfully complete all required background checks in accordance with Ohio law and district policy

Terms of Service

A BCI Background check must be completed, returned showing no convictions, and/or approved by the Superintendent and School Board before to any Volunteer time is authorized. Volunteer assignments may be short-term and program-specific. Volunteers are typically unpaid and are not considered employees of the district.
