Volunteer with Band � Cambridge City Schools

Cambridge City Schools is seeking dedicated family and community members to serve as Band Volunteers in support of students, staff, and school music programs. Volunteers play an important role in enhancing school music programs as well as strengthening school-community partnerships.

Position Summary

Band Volunteers assist program advisors, school staff, and students in a variety of extracurricular and general support activities. Band Volunteer assignments may include music program support, assistance for specific band activities and events, chaperoning band trips, assisting with band programing, district event admissions, and other music-related activities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Band Director or Building Principal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists Band Director with practice/program activities
• Supports student musicians as they learn, grow, and develop, under the Band Director's supervision
• Helps with school band/music events, programs, trips, or other band activities
• Serves as mentors and provide support to the band director and musicians
• Promotes a safe, respectful, and positive environment for competition
• Maintains confidentiality regarding students and district information
• Follows all district policies, procedures, and volunteer guidelines
• Completes required background checks and training prior to service

Qualifications

• Interest in supporting Cambridge City School District musicians, bands, and schools in general
• Ability to work cooperatively with the band director, school staff, parents, and community members
• Possess these traits - dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude
• Displays Strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Must successfully complete all required background checks in accordance with Ohio law and district policy

Terms of Service

A BCI Background check must be completed, returned showing no convictions, and/or approved by the Superintendent and School Board before to any Volunteer time is authorized.

Band Volunteer assignments may be short-term, seasonal, or annual. Band Volunteers are typically unpaid and are not considered employees of the district.
