Substitute School Nurse

Qualifications/Experience:
Required:
Registered Nurse (RN)
Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Successful background check required.
Preferred:
Licensed School Nurse (LSN)
Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN)
Public Health Nurse (PHN)
Experience in a medical, long-term care facility or school.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed:
Medical knowledge, ability to assess and respond to medical problems and emergencies, communication skills, accountability and conduct screenings.

Exemplifies the following Five Character Traits: compassion, respect, responsibility, self discipline and honesty.

Specific Tasks:

Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, medical concerns, and emergencies in accordance with district procedures. Provide basic nursing care, first aid, medications, and prescribed treatments as authorized. Support students with individual health needs by following established healthcare and emergency action plans. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records and documentation. Communicate with families, staff, and healthcare professionals regarding student health concerns and necessary follow-up.
