About this role

Harrison Township School District has an opening for a Full-time Business Office Payroll Specialist.

Qualifications: A high school diploma, preferably with business school or business college training *(grandfathering for those currently employed in position); Knowledge of computer technology and its applications; Strong mathematical aptitude; Ability to work well with others; Ability to deal with multiple tasks and duties; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to accept and follow administrative direction; Ability to use "common sense" and to recognize emergency situations; Strong organizational and time-management skills

Reports to: School Business Administrator/Board Secretary

Job Goal: To assist the School Business Administrator in maintaining the functions of the business office in an efficient and organized manner.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality in the department.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll in a timely manner.
  • Maintain employee database as it pertains to all payroll related information and tasks (example: payroll deductions, direct deposit information, address changes, budget account changes, etc.)
  • Calculate and make salary adjustments as needed.
  • Process enrollment into the State pension system and complete State quarterly pension reports and payments.
  • Process all Payroll Agency payments on a specific time schedule.
  • Process and pay required taxes in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with administrators regarding pay vouchers as needed.
  • Maintain Staff attendance records.
  • Balance the monthly payroll and payroll agency bank accounts to the records maintained in the Business Office.
  • Preparation of required reports for the Treasurer of School Monies.
  • Advise the School Business Administrator of any problems, concerns, and situations that may affect the school's smooth operations.
  • Any and all other duties that may be assigned by the School Business Administrator.

Terms of Employment: 12-month work year
Evaluation: Evaluation will be completed by the immediate supervisor in accordance with Board Policy.
