Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Facilitate the efficient operation of the In School Suspension environment and provide clerical services for the school’s administrative staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education / Certification:
High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge / Skills:
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
One to three years of clerical experience (preferred)
One to three years of experience working with students (preferred)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
● Maintain an orderly and safe environment for students in ISS.
● Communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure student success.
● Maintain proper files and daily record of student academic progress, attendance, and behavior to the campus staff.
● Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.
● Receive, store, and issue supplies and equipment.
● Update handbooks, policy manuals, guidelines, etc.
● Assist with front office clerical duties as assigned.
● Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; occasional use of specialized equipment, as appropriate
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work with frequent interruptions
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; reading, ability to perform basic arithmetic; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Other: Work as a team member and with peers, teachers, campus personnel and principals; professional demeanor, resourcefulness, communicate effectively with diverse groups and accept supervision; work without day-to-day supervision; regular and punctual attendance at the workplace
