Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Facilitate the efficient operation of the house principal’s office and provide clerical services for the house principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Certification:

High School diploma or GED

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Proficient in the use of computers/communications technology

Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with the public

Ability to operate multi-line phone system

Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions

Experience:

One to three years of clerical experience preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed.
  • Type all written correspondence and properly route.
  • Receive all incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain proper files to include inventory of mailing list, students’ records, visitor logs, and office communication.
  • Prepare instructional materials, meeting agendas, honor rolls, graduation lists, and campus communication as requested, using computer.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for house principal.
  • Maintain a log of visitors to the house principal’s office.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
  • Maintain attendance membership on students.
  • Maintain and process any changes in student files regarding attendance, schedules, grades, and transcripts.
  • Post daily attendance, keeps sign in/out student log.
  • Mail house principal’s student letters regarding attendance or academics.
  • Issue parking tags, identification cards, TEA cards, to students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Multi-line phone system; standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; prolonged use of computer; exposure to computer emissions

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; continuous sitting; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to operate and learn new technology systems; reading; ability to perform basic arithmetic; work with frequent interruptions
