Position Summary

The McKinney Education Foundation (MEF) is seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Development & Communications Manager to help grow philanthropic support and increase awareness of MEF's impact on McKinney ISD students and educators.

Reporting to the CEO, this position combines fundraising, donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and communications. The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder and storyteller, equally comfortable meeting with a prospective donor, developing a sponsorship proposal, creating a social media campaign, or sharing the story of MEF's impact.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Fundraising

● Cultivate and steward corporate, individual, and community donors.

● Assist the CEO in identifying and developing new donors, sponsors, and community partnerships.

● Manage corporate sponsorships, renewals, benefits, and recognition.

● Support the CEO with major donor cultivation and fundraising strategies.

● Lead the MISD Employee Giving Campaign and other fundraising initiatives.

● Research and coordinate grant opportunities in partnership with MEF staff.

● Maintain donor and prospect records and track fundraising activity.

● Support fundraising strategy for Purses with Purpose and other MEF initiatives.

Marketing & Communications

● Manage MEF's social media platforms and content calendar.

● Create and distribute newsletters, email campaigns, and donor communications.

● Maintain and update MEF's website.

● Create graphics and marketing materials using Canva.

● Develop marketing campaigns for MEF programs, fundraising initiatives, and events.

● Work with the Programs Manager to identify and share compelling student, educator, and program impact stories.

● Ensure consistent MEF branding and messaging across communications.

● Coordinate media, photography, video, printing, and outside creative support as needed.

Qualifications

● Bachelor's degree preferred.

● Experience in fundraising, development, communications, marketing, business development, community relations, or a related field.

● Strong relationship-building, writing, and communication skills.

● Comfortable cultivating donors and asking for financial support.

● Experience with social media, email marketing, basic website management, and Canva.

● Strong organizational and project-management skills.

● Self-starter who can independently manage priorities and move projects forward.

● Nonprofit, education, fundraising, or community engagement experience preferred.

Position Details

Full-Time | Reports to CEO

Some evening and weekend availability is required for MEF events and community activities.

Salary Range: $60,000–$68,000, commensurate with experience.

The Development & Communications Manager will play an important role in helping MEF grow its resources, strengthen community partnerships, and tell the story of how those investments create opportunities for McKinney ISD students and educators.
