Mechanicville City School District anticipates hiring a full-time School Social Worker, effective December 1, 2026.

Elementary School Social Worker Job Description

Related Services:

• Participating in special education assessment meetings as well as individualized educational planning meetings
• Preparing a social history on a child with a disability
• Counseling (Group and Individual)
• Assisting in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies
• Reporting to administration and proper authorities in cases of child abuse

Services to Students:

• Providing crisis intervention
• Identifying and addressing bullying and other peer issues
• Developing intervention strategies to increase academic and behavior success
• Teaching prosocial and conflict resolution skills

Services to Parents/Families

• Collaborating with families to support their child’s school success
• Assisting families in accessing and utilizing school and community resources

Services to School Personnel

• Consulting with teachers and staff to increase student success
• Serving as an active member of the school’s collaborative problem-solving team, MTSS, and CSE committees

School-Community Liaison

• Refer parents/families to community resources
• Advocating for new community/school services to meet the needs of students and families

• The successful candidate must be certified: LCSW (preferred) or LMSW (minimal).
• Full-time (10-months)
• Salary and benefits per MTA contract
