We are seeking a reliable, safety-minded Non-CDL School Bus Driver to join our student transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting students safely and efficiently to and from school, extracurricular activities, and special events. You will operate standard passenger vans, SUVs, or small Type A school buses that do not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). The ideal candidate possesses an authoritative yet calming demeanor, prioritizes safety above all else, and communicates effectively with children, parents, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Student Transport: Operate school vans, cars, or small activity buses safely under various weather and traffic conditions.
• Route Adherence: Follow designated routes and strictly adhere to time schedules for picking up and dropping off students.
• Vehicle Inspections: Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle (checking fluid levels, tires, lights, and brakes).
• Student Management: Maintain excellent order, discipline, and a safe environment on the vehicle. Monitor student behavior to prevent distractions while driving.
• Passenger Assistance: Assist students—including those with special needs or adaptive equipment—safely on and off the vehicle as needed.
• Regulatory Compliance: Obey all federal, state, and local traffic laws and school district transportation policies.
• Emergency Response: Follow company protocols during emergencies. Physically assist passengers in safely evacuating the vehicle if necessary.
• Reporting: Complete and submit accurate logs, mileage records, timecards, and vehicle repair requests in a timely manner. Immediately report any traffic incidents, accidents, or mechanical delays.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age.
• License: Must hold a valid, standard state Driver’s License (Class D or equivalent) with a clean driving record (no major violations or at-fault accidents within the last 3 to 5 years).
• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Background Clearances: Must successfully pass a criminal background check, child abuse clearances, FBI fingerprinting, and pre-employment drug screening.
• Medical Fitness: Ability to pass a physical examination or state-equivalent physical assessment.
• Certification: Possession of (or willingness to obtain) state-specific school bus/van driver safety certifications (e.g., specific safety courses as mandated by the state Department of Education).

Preferred Skills

• Child Care Experience: Previous professional experience working with children or students with special needs is highly valued.
• Communication Skills: Clear verbal and written English communication skills to interact positively with supervisors, students, parents, and teachers.
• Patience & Dependability: High level of emotional maturity, patience, and punctual attendance habits.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of driving.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally (e.g., opening vehicle hoods, moving adaptive equipment, or assisting a student during an emergency).
• Vision and hearing capabilities sufficient to safely operate a passenger vehicle and pass required medical certifications.
