About this role

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a 4-year degree.
  • Minimum 8 years as an IT system administrator, network administrator, or similar role (school infrastructure experience is preferred).
  • Assists the core Technology Team with day-to-day technology systems and networking responsibilities and projects.
  • Monitors data center health using preexisting management tools and responds to infrastructure hardware issues as they arise.
  • Installs, manages, and maintains the districts physical and virtual servers environment.
  • Manages the schools information and data, including oversight, support, maintenance, backup, security, upgrades, updates, and troubleshooting of the various information Systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades, modifications, or changes to information systems and specialized applications.
  • Interacts with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting and identifies root causes, and provide technical support when needed.
  • Performs routine/scheduled audits of the systems, including all backups.
  • Assists in planning, implementing, upgrading, or monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks, systems, and information.
  • Oversee all Apple device services including mobile device management.
  • Manage VMWare server infrastructure.
  • Manage user accounts in various systems, including Active Directory and Google.
  • Manage and maintain technology-related disaster recovery processes.
  • Assist with planning and implement directory-related services and integrations.
  • Works with the Director of Business Applications to establish and facilitate best practices for day-to-day server management.
  • Assists in responding to audits, penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
  • Provides input for updating and creating departmental policies and procedures including Disaster Recovery Plans.
  • Assists in conducting technical compliance assessments of information systems in accordance with established standards.
  • Setup and manage special infrastructure services for events as needed periodically.
  • Google Workspace for Education Plus Administrator.
  • Oversee projects related to system infrastructure and deployments.
  • Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Be available when necessary 7 days a week 24 hours a day.
  • Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the technology systems being supported.
  • Disseminate technology related information throughout the district via news bulletins, electronic mail, electronic bulletin boards, presentations at state, district and building level meetings, etc.
  • Monitor daily systems performance and execute corrective measures. Assist other technical staff in resolving hardware, software, and network connection problems.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of district and statewide technology workshops and projects.
  • Help in the evaluation and purchase of software and hardware.
  • Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
  • Protect the confidentiality of records and information about staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
  • Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, construction codes, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Perform any additional duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Superintendent or designee, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
  • Create, maintain, follow and improve audit procedures and protocols.
  • Assist in the creating and implementation of district Information Technology Policies.
  • Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license with no serious violations.
  • Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
