GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Rides on a school bus for the purpose of maintaining order, and for supervising the loading and unloading of buses at the various stopping points. Does related work as required.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
This is routine work which includes responsibility for the safety of school children on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school.
TYPICAL DUTIES

• · 1. · Maintains order on bus and makes certain that children are seated while bus is in motion.
• · 2. · Supervises loading and unloading of bus.
• 3.: Helps children cross highway in safety.
• · 4. · Assists pupils and driver as needed.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1.: Familiarity with the bus routes in the district.
2.: Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
3.: Dependability.
4.: Good physical condition.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Ability to get along with children and to maintain discipline.
NOTE: Candidates must satisfy the physical and mental requirements for school bus monitor set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State commissioner of Education.
