Eligibility: Current Plainfield Public Schools Teacher Assistants Only
Position: Bus Assistant
Department: Transportation
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor
Compensation: Same applicable rate of pay as current Teacher Assistant position
Work Schedule: Split Shift � approximately 6:30 a.m.�10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.�4:30 p.m.

The Bus Assistant will:

• Assist in maintaining the safety and supervision of students while they are being transported to and from school.
• Support students as they enter and exit the school bus, as appropriate.
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining an orderly and safe environment.
• Provide appropriate supervision and assistance to students throughout the route.
• Support students with individual transportation needs consistent with district procedures and applicable student plans.
• Communicate concerns regarding student safety, behavior, transportation, or other issues to the appropriate district personnel.
• Follow all district transportation, safety, confidentiality, and student supervision requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

ELIGIBILITY

Only individuals currently employed by Plainfield Public Schools as Teacher Assistants are eligible to apply for this internal posting.

Applicants must be willing and able to work the required split-shift schedule.

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE INFORMATION

Employees should carefully consider the change in work schedule before applying. Bus Assistant assignments generally require availability during both the morning and afternoon transportation windows:

Morning: Approximately 6:30 a.m.� 10:00 a.m.
Afternoon: Approximately 1:00 p.m.�4:30 p.m.

Specific reporting and dismissal times may vary based upon assigned transportation routes.
