Permanent Substitute Teacher

Description: The Permanent Substitute Teacher reports daily to the assigned high school and provides instructional coverage as directed. The role is intended to give students a consistent and recognizable substitute in the building, reduce last-minute coverage gaps, and maintain continuity of instruction when classroom teachers are absent.

• There are two current vacancies: one at Ramapo High School and one at Indian Hills High School
• Hours are 8:15am to 3:15pm with a 56 minute lunch break
• Working days aligned with the student calendar

Responsibilities:

• Report daily to the assigned building at the start of the teacher workday
• Implement lesson plans left by the absent teacher; when no plan is available, deliver appropriate instructional activities aligned to the curriculum.
• Maintain a safe, orderly classroom and enforce school rules and Board policy.
• Supervise students in the classroom or instructional area, and during assigned duty periods (hall, cafeteria, arrival/dismissal, etc.).
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications:

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Substitute Credential (endorsement 9041) or a New Jersey CE, CEAS, or Standard instructional certificate.
• Experience in working across content areas and grade 9�12 settings is preferred.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and all other required employment clearances.

Compensation: 10-month position.Salary range is $40,000 to $47,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Contributory health benefits offered.
