Temporary Big Woods Elementary School Building Substitute Teacher (11/9-11/30/2026)

We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.

Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing lessons, instructing students with a wide range of abilities, assessing student learning, collecting and analyzing student data to plan instruction, creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment, communicating with students, parent and multiple stakeholders, maintaining accurate records, supervising students, participating in school improvement initiatives and learning professionally. This is a district-wide position, assigned to a specific building. The Building Substitute Teacher will primarally fill absences among certified staff, but may be assigned to before and after school duty, lunch duty, supervision and other duties. The Building Substitute may also be assigned to fill support staff abences and may be assigned to other buildings on a daily or semi-permanent based, based on the needs of the district.

FTE: 1.0
Contract: Depends on start date__up to 13 days.
Contract Length: through November 30, 2026 (student contact days only)
Schedule: 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday, student contact days only.

Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and required substitute teaching license or regular teaching license (short-call, long-call, or lifetime substitute teaching license or Tier 3 or Tier 4 teaching license).

Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary and benefits package. Salary Range: $195-$205/day. To be eligible for the higher level of pay, must have worked as a licensed teacher in a full-time, long-term substitute, building substitute, or daily substitute capity for at least 60 student contact days in the STMA School District during the 2025-2026 school year.

No other benefits except Earned Safe and Sick Time as required by law.
