Special Education Paraprofessional

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Grayson County SSA. This full-time position involves providing support to students with diverse learning needs in a classroom environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other professionals to facilitate an inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes academic and social development for students with disabilities.

• Responsibilities
• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with academic tasks and social interactions.
• Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and any concerns, reporting findings to the teacher.
• Support the development of students' life skills, including communication, self-care, and social skills.
• Collaborate with educational staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom activities.
• Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required.
• Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
• Adhere to all school policies and procedures, including confidentiality and ethical standards.

• Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of special education practices, including IEPs and behavior management strategies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with disabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing classroom dynamics.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• Must pass background checks and any additional screenings as required by state and school district regulations.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
