Job Title: Modified Baseball Head Coach

Position Overview:

Cooperstown Central School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Modified Baseball Head Coach to lead our middle school-level baseball program. The coach will be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of the game, fostering a positive team environment, and supporting the development of young student-athletes as they begin their interscholastic sports journey.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate practices and game strategies
• Teach basic baseball skills, rules, teamwork, and sportsmanship
• Promote a fun, inclusive, and safe athletic experience
• Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, and during team travel
• Communicate regularly with players, parents/guardians, and school staff
• Ensure all school and NYSPHSAA regulations and safety protocols are followed
• Coordinate with the JV and Varsity coaching staff to ensure consistent program philosophy and player progression
• Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms

Required:

• Completion or willingness to complete all NYSED coaching requirements:

• CPR and First Aid Certification
• DASA Training
• Concussion Management Certification
• SAVE Training
• Fingerprint clearance through NYSED

Preferred:

• Experience coaching baseball or working with middle school-aged students
• Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals and youth development
• Positive communication and motivational skills
• Ability to serve as a role model and mentor for young student-athletes
