Job Title: Varsity Girls Track & Field Head Coach
Position Overview:

Cooperstown Central School is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Varsity Girls Track & Field Head Coach to lead the high school boys track and field program. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of hard work, teamwork, and sportsmanship while developing student-athletes across a range of track and field events. The coach will be responsible for planning practices, managing meets, and ensuring the overall success of the program.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead daily practices tailored to sprints, distance, jumps, throws, and relays
• Develop individualized training programs to meet the needs of diverse athletes
• Instruct athletes in proper technique, conditioning, and injury prevention
• Supervise athletes during all practices, meets, and team events
• Manage meet entries, lineups, and performance tracking
• Promote academic accountability, positive conduct, and sportsmanship
• Communicate regularly with athletes, parents, and school staff
• Coordinate with assistant coaches and the athletic department to ensure smooth team operations
• Ensure full compliance with NYSPHSAA, Section III, and district regulations
• Maintain and manage team equipment and uniforms

Qualifications:

Required:

• Completion or willingness to complete all NYSED coaching certification requirements, including:

• CPR and First Aid Certification
• DASA Training
• Concussion Management Certification
• SAVE Training
• Fingerprint clearance through NYSED

Preferred:

• Experience coaching track and field at the school or club level
• Strong knowledge of training principles and event-specific techniques
• Ability to coach a variety of events or collaborate effectively with specialty assistants
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to student-athlete development on and off the track
