Substitute Bus Monitor

The Cooperstown Central School District is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a substitute bus monitor position. Overview: Ride with students primarily students with special needs on morning and afternoon bus runs. Ensure a safe, orderly, and supportive environment while assisting the driver and students. Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students with preparatory tasks (e.g., buckling seat belts and harnesses)
• Maintain order and supervise student behavior during transport
• Communicate safety expectations and provide positive support
• Perform additional related duties as assigned

• Schedule: Approximmately 2-3 hours per day when school is in session
• Morning: 6:50–8:00 AM
• Afternoon: 2:15–4:00 PM

Minimum Requirements:

• Successful completion of the 10-hour Basic School Bus Monitor & Attendant Course (training provided if needed)
• Good judgment, tact, and courtesy; ability to work well with children and earn their respect
• Good general intelligence and physical condition suitable for the role
