Substitute Bus Driver

Reports to: Supervisor of Transportation
Description: On-call substitute bus driver needed to fill in for trips and/or events.

Responsibilities:

• Safely transport students to and from school and school-related activities.
• Follow all state and district regulations for school bus operation.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain order and discipline on the bus.
• Report any mechanical issues or incidents promptly.
• Adhere to assigned routes and schedules when called.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid New Jersey Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements.
• Valid NJ School Bus Driver Certificate.
• Air Brakes endorsement required.
• Clean driving record with no serious violations.
• Ability to pass federal/state background checks, fingerprinting, and drug/alcohol screening.
• Knowledge of safe driving practices and school bus operation.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude when working around students and staff.
• Minimum age requirements per NJ state regulations.

Compensation:

• $36 per hour
