District Sports Performance Coordinator/Varsity Head Football Coach -- Pike High School

Pike High School, located on the Northwest side of Indianapolis has a rich educational and athletic tradition and competes in the highly competitive Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference in Central Indiana.

District Sports Performance Coordinator
The purpose of this position is to create, organize, and oversee all the developments of a district-wide plan. Through the development of a district-wide sports performance initiative, a plan will be developed to include a combination of activities and games to teach the fundamentals of movement that are utilized across all sports in a way that develops balance, speed, agility, and coordination.

Head Football Coach
The Pike High School Varsity Head Football Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the football program in the Metropolitan School District of Pike Township in accordance with district, IHSAA and MIC rules and regulations. The head coach has primary coaching responsibility for the varsity team but must be committed to working with all levels of the program (Youth, Middle School, JV and Varsity). The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program from youth leagues through varsity levels. The applicant must understand the concept that interscholastic athletics are a desirable part of the total school program and are essential to the social, emotional and intellectual development of the student athlete.

The District Sports Performance Coordinator/Head Football Coach is expected to exemplify high moral character, behavior and leadership, adhering to strong ethical and integrity standards. The coach will respect each individual, abide by and teach football in spirit and letter, set a good example for players and spectators to follow with both words and gestures, teach and display good sportsmanship, treat opponents and officials with dignity and respect, instill good health habits and training rules, and maintain the highest level of responsibility, accountability and behavior that is expected of all Metropolitan School District of Pike Township employees.

Required qualifications include: Successful football coaching experience; effective interpersonal and communication skills and a strong desire to lead a district wide football program.

Preferred qualifications include: Proven success in the sport of football, and prior experience of working within an urban school district.
